Trip Overview

A brand new concept for 2009, RMMH will run 2 consecutive one-way holidays from Vancouver to Calgary and back taking in all best the Rockies have to offer in as little time as possible. Guests should be aware that this particular tour will begin in Vancouver, B.C. and end in Calgary, Alberta.

Our 9-day Western Canada in a Week - Eastbound holiday combines the Coast Mountains, the arid interior, the majestic Canadian Rockies and world famous Lake Louise (the most photographed lake on the planet) into an amazing ride with a huge diversity of scenery. This holiday features a nice relaxed pace, including off-days in both Jasper & Banff, which allows for plenty of scenic stopovers and memorable destinations.

What to Expect

As with all our holidays, we leave Whistler heading north on Highway 99, the Sea to Sky Highway. We pass through Pemberton and climb beside the teal waters of Lillooet Lake along the Duffey Lake Road. After winding through the lush Coast Mountains, the climate becomes arid as we enter the gold rush country.

With the sun at our back, we follow the Cayoosh Canyon west to Lillooet, where we join roads that follow two of the great rivers of BC: the Fraser and the Thompson. Past the Ginseng fields of the benchlands, we end our day at another famous mountain retreat: Sun Peaks Resort.

Our next stop takes us north to the heart of the powerful Canadian Rocky Mountains and the stunning scenery of Jasper. The following day offers a chance to explore the beauty of Jasper National Park on foot, by tram, by bicycle or by a motorcycle ride to Maligne Lake or Miette Hotsprings, where the abundance of wildlife has to be seen to be believed.

Our ride then turns south along the “Icefields Parkway,” through glacier country. “The views are truly unparalleled,” said Robert Smith of Moto-Euro when he travelled this road.

Next stop: Lake Louise! The most photographed lake in the world and you’ll realise why when you arrive. We’ll spend the night in the Town of Lake Louise which provides ample time to soak in the natural beauty of the surrounding area. From Lake Louise we head west back into British Columbia through Kicking Horse pass down to the town of Golden. Next we head south down the Rocky Mountain Trench towards Radium Hotsprings where we again cross the border back into Alberta on our way to the renowned town of Banff where we’ll stay 2 nights at the brand new Fox Hotel & Suites.

Banff is one of Canada’s true gems and is a hot spot for tourists visiting the Canadian Rockies and provides numerous activities, sight-seeing, shopping, nightlife, and is home to the famous Banff Springs Hotel.

The following day provides a memorable ride through the wide valleys and towering peaks of Kananaskis Country. Huge, undisturbed mountain vistas and wildlife sightings are numerous in this area. You’ll experience true cattle country as we head to the town of Longview and stop for lunch. Onward to the city of Calgary, affectionately nicknamed “Cowtown” as it has been called the Texas of Canada and is home to the great outdoor show on earth the Calgary Stampede!

Testimonials

Eva & I would like to thank you and the rest of the Rocky Mountain Team for making our holiday so enjoyable. The tour was organized with enough attention to detail to run flawlessly but without so many restrictions as to make us feel like #5 in a row of ducklings.

We had a fantastic time and would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Rocky Mountain Motorcycle Holidays to anyone. I’m writing a letter to Bike magazine to tell them of our very positive experience. All in all, the holiday rates up there with our honeymoon!

Best wishes to all.

John & Eva Soones, London
