13 Days Total, 11 Riding Days

NEW for 2008 the Sea to Sin City holiday features two of the most popular travel destinations in North America. We'll ride from the sandy beaches of Southern California's San Diego (one of the U.S. most desirable cities to live in) through the desert, to the bright lights of Las Vegas, America's playground for the affluent. Don't forget your camera and plenty of extra film or memory cards for this one!
Highlights include: Joshua Tree National Park, Route 66, Death Valley, The Grand Canyon, Brice Canyon, Zion, Moab, and of course Las Vegas itself!.

This is a brand new tour for 2008 that is designed for those who want to experience a taste of the true American Wild West. It features more of a relaxed pace but gives everyone a chance to visit some once in a lifetime natural and man-made attractions.
This tour begins on the quaint, yet upscale island of Coronado just across the water from the big city bright lights of San Diego. We’ll set off through the highways and bi-ways of San Diego winding our way out of town towards some nice twisty mountainous sections along Highway 78. We then approach the quaint little town of Julian.
From there we follow Highway 78 as we head over a mountain pass. As we come down the eastern slope you’ll notice a drastic change in landscape and climate, as we’ve gone from the green oasis of San Diego to the arid rocky badlands of Borrego Springs, where we’ll stop for a nice lunch.
The next leg heads towards the Sultan Sea, a unique salt-water lake which provides the major agricultural water source for Palm Dessert. We’ll head north up towards Palm Springs, where we turn east going through Mecca and Painted Canyon, which will lead us to the south entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. We spend the day exploring the terrestrial rock formations that the park has to offer and the vast areas of the Joshua trees themselves. We finish the first day off in the town of Twentynine Palms.
Make sure you’re quite hydrated because today’s ride takes us through California’s vast open desert lands, and by the Twentynine Palms Naval Artillery Training Base. From here is where we get onto the Old National Trail Highway a.k.a. Route 66, so get your kicks! Then off towards the Mojave Dessert and over the border into the town of Needles, Arizona. After lunch we head back on Route 66 through the famous ghost-town of Oatman, Arizona, continuing east to our final destination of Williams, Arizona.
Our day off in Williams is spent exploring the scenic Highway 89 up to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Next day we’ll travel scenic Highway 180 up to the town of Page, which borders Arizona and Utah. Our off day in Page, Arizona is spent exploring the north rim of the Grand Canyon and also the Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument.
From Page we start heading through the Navajo Indian Reservation, up into Monument Valley and onto the town of Mexican Hat, Utah. We depart Mexican Hat and travel through Valley of the Gods along scenic Highway 191 North, up to the lively resort town of Moab, Utah. Here we enjoy yet another day off where you’re encouraged to ride up to Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park.
From there, our next day takes us west on scenic Highway 24 into Capital Reef National Park and the historic little town of Torrey, Utah. From Torrey we head south west towards scenic Highway 12 back through Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument and into Bryce Canyon National Park where we‘ll end our day in the town of St. George, Utah.
How about another scenic park? You’ve earned it! Well, today we ride into Zion National Park. Hopefully by now you’ve almost grown tired of National Parks because the next leg of our journey takes us back into the desert through Valley of Fire State Park (last one) along the west side of Lake Mead. Finally, we’ve reached our ultimate destination and come to bask in all its glory, the bright lights & lucky nights of fabulous Las Vegas. Let the debauchery begin as Las Vegas can offer almost any indulgence your little heart desires. Here’s where we strongly recommend booking a few extra days to take it all in!

"Pretty hard to say there wasn’t enough wildlife. I know you folks at Rocky Mountain are good, but I don’t think we can expect the wildlife to show up on command, can we? Roads were great and much better to ride some back roads and stay off the main highways. Loved everything about this holiday.”
