Trip Overview

NEW for 2008 the Old Faithful tour features Yellowstone National Park. Arguably the most famous of the U.S. National Parks, Yellowstone is located in the heart of America's mid-west and is best known for its signature attraction, a geyser named "Old Faithful". Experience the pure, raw natural beauty touring the sites of this National treasure. This holiday also includes portions of British Columbia's Okanagan and Kootenay Valley region. Join us as we journey from the snow-capped Coastal Mountain range, through Washington's lake & wine region, into cowboy and cattle country all en route to Yellowstone National Park and "Old Faithful".

Highlights include: Yellowstone & Grand Teton National Parks, Jackson Hole, Hell's Canyon, and Craters of the Moon National Reserve!

What to Expect

This is a brand new tour for 2008 and is geared towards those who are keen to ride longer stretches. It covers more ground than any of our other tours. We average approx 380km per day with fewer rest days. This is due to the fact that there are so many amazing things to see and do in this portion of the world. So you can’t say that we didn’t caution you!

Our journey begins in Vancouver where we head east on the Trans-Canada Highway through the heart of the Fraser Valley, Abbotsford. From Abbotsford we head south at the Sumas border crossing into the old U.S. of A. and Washington State. We’ll wind our way down through farm lands, where we’ll connect with Highway 20 which will take us eastward through the Cascade Mountains. We’ll spend our first night just outside the town of Winthrop.

The next day we’re back on to Highway 20 East. As we ride out of the Cascade Mountains you’ll notice a drastic change from windy mountain roads to flat open stretches of land. This is Washington’s Spokane Valley. We’ll wind our way down through the town of Spokane, crossing the Columbia River, as we work our way down to Lewiston, Idaho.

From here we head back into Washington’s south east corner for a short stretch until we reach Oregon’s north east corner en route to Enterprise, the gateway town to Hell’s Canyon National Park, which we’ll spend some time cruising through and exploring. Not too much time though, we still have a lot of distance to cover to get to our final destination for that evening, Stanley Idaho.

Our next day consists of a casual pace ride to Butte City, Idaho, because we get to explore Saw Tooth National Forest and Craters of the Moon National Monument.

Get your cowboy gear ready because our next town is Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We hope to get in early so we can spend some time familiarizing ourselves with the area, including Grand Tetons National Park. After a leisurely breakfast, we’ll hop on the bikes heading north again through Grand Tetons National Park and on to our first glimpse of Yellowstone National Park.

Next stop, West Yellowstone, where we spend 2 nights. Just enough time to enjoy all that Yellowstone National Park has to offer. Now that you’ve earned that day off, back to some good old hard motorcycle riding. We’ll head north east through the Rocky Mountain foothills and down into the cattle grazing flatlands of the State they call ‘The Big Sky State’ Montana. From there we’ll be spending the night in Hamilton, Montana.

From Hamilton we travel up to Missoula, one of Montana’s largest cities, and then head north up towards Big Fork and Flathead Lake. We’ll call it an evening in one of Montana’s biggest little resort towns, Whitefish.

From Whitefish we head north to Eureka and just when you think we’re crossing the border back into Canada, we take you down south for one last great sweeping section of Montana’s open roads. We travel down to Libby Dam (not named after our Libby) heading north east into Idaho and then crossing the border up into Canada breaching the town of Creston, B.C.

After lunch we head west on Highway 3 onto the great twisty roads of the south Kootenay Valley and onto the funky little resort town of Rossland, B.C. The next morning we stay on Highway 3 winding our way into the Okanagan valley, as we encounter Canada’s only desert, Osoyoos. We travel north up through B.C.’s wine country for a night in Penticton at the south end of Lake Okanagan.

Our final day takes us back out of Penticton, where we’ll head south through the twisty roads of Apex Mountain Resort. Connecting up with Highway 3 sending us west where we join Highway 5A in Princeton which points us north up towards the Thompson / Nicola valley. We follow these rivers along to Lillooet and travel the Duffey Lake road to our final dinner in Whistler.

Testimonials

"Thanks again for an extraordinary holiday. The organization, accommodations, meals, service, guides and routes were outstanding.

While I can’t give you any credit for the scenery, it too was breathtaking. As for the ride, the Triumphs were superb. The freedom to tear up the road ahead of the guide or fall behind to take in the postcard views made for just the right mix of no-worry vacationing and head-on adventure.

Empty roads, infinite sweeping curves and high performance bikes- who could ask for more? Save me a spot next year on the eleven day trip - I’m addicted.”
