Rocky Mountain Motorcycle Holidays Press Release

Family business delivers high-octane motorcycle adventures based in the Rocky Mountains

Vancouver, B.C. - Summer, 2007

The spirit of the Wild West is alive and kicking in a small but established motorcycle touring company based out of Whistler, B.C. Rocky Mountain Motorcycle Holidays caters to motorcycle sport-touring enthusiasts from around the globe. The company provides guided motorcycle adventures from the rugged Pacific coastline to the highest Rocky Mountain peaks.

“It’s much more than a magnificent motorcycle holiday,” says Brandon Douglas, President and head guide. “It’s an adventure. Western Canada is large, isolated, and wild. Within a thousand kilometers you’ll see the ocean, desert, rain forests, pristine lakes, rolling foothills, and glacier-capped mountains.”

“And we’re not talking about tents and chuck wagons,” he adds. “Rocky Mountain delivers the complete luxury vacation package that incorporates fine dining and high-end resort destinations at each stop along the way. If you need to take a break from riding, we can arrange for other recreational activities such as golf, fishing, boating, or even a relaxing day at the spa.”

They believe that the west coast of North America and its breath-taking scenery is best appreciated from the saddle of a motorbike, and you’d have a tough time arguing with them after experiencing a Rocky Mountain ride.

The current vacation routes span North America’s Western region, including coastal and interior B.C., mountainous Alberta, parts of Montana & Idaho, down the Pacific coast to San Francisco and the sunny California “Sea to Sky” route. A new route is highly anticipated for the summer of 2008 which will run from San Diego to Las Vegas.

“Enter the world of Rocky Mountain Motorcycle Holidays and you’ve found kindred spirits who share your love of adventure motorcycling. Twisty Roads, drop-dead scenery, great bikes and marvelous hospitality from beginning to end. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for quality R&R on the back of a motorcycle.”
- “ John Campbell, editor of Canadian Biker Magazine.

New Ownership

Rocky Mountain Motorcycle Holidays received an overhaul recently as ownership changed hands and upperlevel management was restructured. That sits just fine with Brandon Douglas, Rocky Mountain’s longest standing employee and guide, because he’s very familiar with the new owner - his mother Diana Douglas.

Diana has been riding in annual Rocky Mountain tours since the company first started. Impressed by her expert tour guides and the knowledgeable office manager (and motorcyclist) Libby Everest, she loved the tours so much she decided to buy the company. And she’s more than happy to have her eldest son continue to do what he does best: show people how to have a great time on a motorcycle.

Now her youngest son, Tyler, has followed suit by joining the Rocky Mountain marketing team. He’s looking forward to his first rides this summer. Whistler’s best kept secret is evolving into an ideal service for a local family-owned business.

New Bikes and Routes

This season Rocky Mountain is pleased to announce the arrival of two new popular lines of motorbikes to their fleet. They have added the BMW R 1200RT, the Moto Guzzi Breva 1100, and the Aprillia RSV 1000R as well as the latest 2007 Triumph Tigers.

In response to numerous requests, they have also added an additional tour for the upcoming season, called the “Pacific Rim Adventure.” This will be the first time a Rocky Mountain holiday will touch down on Vancouver Island, taking advantage of its sublime coastline, old-growth forests and challenging riding. Highlights include B.C.’s Sunshine Coast, a stop in Tofino for surfing and whale watching, and the old-town
charm of Victoria in the summertime.

The 2008 season will introduce two additional holidays. The first, called “Old Faithful” is scheduled for mid-season and features Yellowstone National Park. And finally, Rocky Mountain will wrap up their season with the highly anticipated “Sea to Sin City” holiday that rides from San Diego, CA to Las Vegas, NV.

“You’ll see amazing scenery, ride the best roads, eat delicious food, stay at the finest hotels, and make some good friends. Best of all you’ll want to do it all over again next year....”
